AICOL Gold Coast English Language School

The Australian International College of Language (AICOL) is an accredited English language school (Provider Code 01272A), established on the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia in 1993.   



AICOL is located on Southport, just 10 minutes north of Surfers Paradise, facing onto the Broadwater Parklands.  Access to local bus and tram services is a short 5 minutes’ walk, as is the Australia Fair Shopping Centre, with over 200 shops, and the beautiful Broadwater Parklands, which will host the Commonwealth Games in 2018.



AICOL is known for its safe, friendly, and effective learning environment for international students.  It offers the following CRICOS accredited courses:


·         English for Young Learners (aged 6 to 13 years old)

·         English for High School Preparation

·         English for Academic and Business Purposes

·         General English (beginner to advanced)

·         English and Professional Sport


AICOL is also a Registered Training Organisation (32060), and offers the following course, delivered in Vietnam:

·         Certificate lV in TESOL


AICOL also delivers:


·         Language test preparation (IELTS, TOEIC, CAMBRIDGE, AEAS)

·         Professional Development for Teachers

·         Parent and Child Program


In addition to the above, AICOL offers Summer (July/August) and Winter (January/February) Camps for both individuals and student groups.


Students from 6-12 years of age are placed in international classes according to their age.  Students 13 years and older are given a placement test on arrival and are placed in international classes based on test results.




Students come to AICOL to enjoy learning English in the beautiful environment of the Gold Coast.   Parents and children may study English in the same school and  enjoy the Australian lifestyle living with an Australian homestay family.


AICOL provides all the necessary services for students, including:

·         Homestay placement - AICOL operates its own in-house homestay service with more than 300 families - all families hold Blue police clearance cards

AICOL also offers interesting and exciting study tour programs for groups of students, which include staying at our Mystery Mountain Farmstay in the Gold Coast hinterland.  Since 1993, AICOL has welcomed over 500 study tours from many different countries.  Included in study tour services are:

·       Daily homestay transfers to and from AICOL

Ownership & Adminstration


Jan and Garth Keppie  are the sole Directors and Co-Principals of the Australian International College of Language (AICOL) (ABN 83 059 849 062). Our good reputation for quality without compromise stands us apart from many of our competitors and has led us to become the English Language school of first choice for many agents and individual students wishing to study English on the Gold Coast.

We are financially stable – we own our premises which are unencumbered and we also own and operate our own farmstay for international study tour groups, particularly school groups. Jan and Garth are both qualified and experienced solicitors and make a point of strictly complying with legal requirements which protects students and agents.


AICOL senior staff


Viviana Browne - Director of Studies, has been with AICOL since 1993.   Viviana supervises all academic study including the AICOL IELTS Pre-test centre, TOEIC test centre and AEAS test centre as well as the AICOL Teacher Development Programs and the Certificate 1V in TESOL.


Janice King –  Academic Purposes Teacher - has been with AICOL for more than 12 years teaching English for Academic and Business Purposes. Janice is a highly qualified teacher.  She has a postgraduate diploma in teaching, is a Queensland registered teacher and has taught senior level English at high schools in both New Zealand and Australia. Janice has a postgraduate diploma in ESL and has acted in the capacity of an IELTS examiner over a number of years. She currently teach advanced level English.  She has a Master of Arts and is presently completing completing a PhD through Deakin University.
