About St Joseph's Nudgee College

St Joseph’s Nudgee College established in 1891 is a Christian Brothers school devoted to educating boys from Years 5 to 12. The college aims to educate the whole person in the context of the values developed by its founder Edmund Rice.

Boarding at Nudgee College

Many say the camaraderie of being a boarder often helps boys enjoy their schooling more as they form life-long friendships amid study routines. With approximately 300 boys ranging from Years 6 - 12 living on campus nudgee College is an exciting and enthusiastic community with a distinct tone and spirit emanating from the residences. As one of Australia’s largest boarding schools nudgee College gives students many opportunities to participate in all aspects of their development. Set in a Catholic environment attention is also given to the spiritual growth of each boy. Boarding accommodation is divided among four boarding houses - two for junior boarders from Years 6 - 10 and two for the Senior boarders. All houses are well supported by the Heads of Residence who care for boys for two or three years and who work hand-in-hand with House Deans from the Day School. Each residence also has a House Mother who provides gentle understanding and help with grooming and manners. The junior boarding houses cater for up to 70 boys in individual style accommodation while the senior boys have individual rooms each with their own study space and internet access where the boys enjoy the chance to develop a more independent and mature lifestyle. With study as the main focus the building has direct access to the library and computer rooms each night of the week.
