In March 1999, the Irving family made a substantial gift to the University, an
Environmental Sciences Research Centre, Botanical Gardens, and Campus Meeting
Place. The complex consists of botanical gardens and a glasshouse that features
representative plants, habitats, and rocks of northeastern North America. The
facility also includes modern classrooms and a variety of spaces where students,
faculty, alumni, and the surrounding community can meet formally and informally. Why choose Acadia
