and government.

Currency:The escudo became the currency of Cape Verde in 1914. It replaced the Cape
Verdean real at a rate of 1000 r's = 1 escudo.

The population of Cape Verde in 2003 was estimated by the United Nations at
463000, which placed it as number 162 in population among the 193 nations of the world.

Capital City:

Praia is the capital and largest city of Cape Verde, an island nation in the
Atlantic Ocean west of Senegal. It lies on the southern coast of Santiago.
