El Alsson and the English Academy International School offers co-educational English medium education to Egyptian and expatriate children. The school has good facilities and is well-resourced, and students have successes entering top universities and faculties in Egypt and abroad. The El Alsson and the English Academy International School was established in 1982 as a private English school, licensed by the Egyptian Ministry of Education. In 1992, in response to numerous requests by parents for an alternative style of education to the Ministry's National programme, the 'English Academy International' section was opened, offering the British curriculum leading to GCSE, A/S and A-Levels. The school has two clear tracks: the Egyptian National leading to the Sanawi'ama exam, and the International, leading to GCSE, AS and A-Level.The two sections of the El Alsson and the English Academy International School share the same buildings and facilities and teaching staff are a mixture of Egyptian and expatriate teachers (mainly British) working together. All children entering the school in Reception and Year 1 (ages 4 and 5) follow the English Curriculum for two years, and thereafter parents decide whether they want their children to continue with an international education or switch to the Egyptian Ministry of Education National programme. In 2000 the El Alsson and the English Academy International School introduced the Edexcel GCSE, A/S and A-Level programme as an alternative to the examination-based IGCSEs. This programme has become extremely popular and well received by both students and parents. For expatriate or Egyptian/Middle Eastern children coming to Egypt from an English curriculum, EA is able to provide a familiar programme, with a wide range of subjects available, taught by experienced UK teachers. For native speakers of Arabic, the school includes a good Arabic and religion programme (Islam or Christianity) in the Internaitonal section which meets the requirements of Egyptian State universities. For non-Arabic speakers there is an AFL (Arabic as a Foreign Language) programme which can lead to a GCSE. School Profile:
