Climate:Macau has a humid subtropical climate (Koppen Cwa) , with average relative humidity between 75% and 90%.[49] Seasonal climate is greatly influenced by the monsoons, and differences in temperature and humidity between summer and winter are significant though not great.
Language:Macanese or Macau Creole is a creole language derived mainly from Malay, Sinhalese, Cantonese, and Portuguese, which was originally spoken by the Macanese community of the Portuguese colony of Macau. It is now spoken by a few families in Macau and in the Macanese diaspora.
Currency:Macau has a currency board system under which the legal tender, Macanese pataca, is 100 percent backed by foreign exchange reserves, in this case currently the Hong Kong dollar.

The population of Macau, which is virtually all urban-based, was estimated at 445, 594 in July 2000. In 2000, the birth rate stood at 12.54 per 1, 000 and this low level is mainly attributed to the effect of urbanization.

Capital City:

Macau does not have a capital. Historically, the capital was "Cidade do Nome de Deus de Macau" (or Macau Peninsula) . This name was abolished upon reunification. The government headquarters were located in the St. Lawrence Parish.
