Otago
Polytechnic at a Glance
An
internationally recognised, government-owned provider of degrees, diplomas
and certificates. Otago Polytechnic is a modern educational institution,
renowned for providing quality, career-focused education.
All
programmes at Otago Polytechnic are highly applied, training students for
real workplace situations. They are taught through a mix of practical and
theoretical skills, and many programmes also include a work experience
component.

Small
classes ensure good student/teacher relationships. Students are seen as
people with individual learning needs and are given individual attention
where required.
Otago
Polytechnic's main campus is situated in North Dunedin alongside the
University of Otago and the Dunedin College of Education and is just five
minutes' walk from the centre of town. The Polytechnic also has campuses
in Central Otago where it offers specialies programmes in Adventure
Tourism, Hospitality, Horticulture and Viticulture.
There
are international students from over 25 countries at Otago Polytechnic.
All Otago Polytechnic programmes offered to international students are
accredited by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
Otago
Polytechnic's academic year begins in February, although some programmes
offer an additional July intake. The graduation ceremonies are held in
March and December each year.

The International Centre is a busy welcoming place located on the first
floor of F block in Forth Street. We are a staff of five and our areas of
responsibility include responding to all your questions, enrolment and
orientation, marketing in New Zealand and off shore, and student support
and accommodation.

There
are approximately 230 international students here from 26 countries
including Cambodia, Canada, China, Denmark, Fiji, Hong Kong, India,
Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Papua New
Guinea, Samoa, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Syria, Tahiti, Taiwan,
Thailand, Tonga, United Kingdom, United States of America, Vietnam,
Zimbabwe.
Most international students come from China, India, Thailand, Hong Kong
and Korea.
