Programmes
Available
Course specific information including entry requirements is contained in
the 2004 PEI Course Fact Sheets, available from PEI on request. Students
study on campus for internationally recognised qualifications such as
City & Guilds Certificates and Diplomas. Many of these can be cross
credited via our pathway agreements to Degree programmes at leading
Australian & New Zealand Institutes.
Hospitality
With
world class training kitchens this is one of the most highly regarded
programmes offered by PEI. Courses include culinary arts, patisserie, food
& beverage service, hospitality operations & management.
The School facilities are innovative, modern and technologically
advanced with an industry focus. In 2003 several students received medals
at the New Zealand Culinary Fair, and in 2004 PEI is represented by a
student competing at the World culinary competition, Oceana Fest 2004.
Business
Administration & Computing
These
courses prepare students with the practical business administration
knowledge needed in today's business world.
Computing
Students
can choose to focus on either practical hardware or software courses for
international industry qualifications.
TESOL
This
is an ideal course for English speakers wanting to become professional
ESOL teachers. It is equally valuable for in-service teachers of English,
and students training to teach English in non-English speaking countries.
This intensive program blends modern teaching theories with practical
teaching techniques and is 6 to 26 weeks long.
Student
Support
Practical Education Institute has agreed to observe and be
bound by the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International
Students published by the Ministry of Education. Copies of the Code are
available from PEI or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website
at
www.minedu.govt.nz/goto/international.
We
provide students with the relevant visa application information and we
will also keep in constant contact with the NZIS (New Zealand Immigration
Service) overseas branches regarding the visa applications from our
prospective students.
Taranaki
Taranaki,
home of Puke Ariki (the worlds first fully integrated museum, library
and visitor centre) is a safe and culturally rich province. It was the
