Wakatipu High School New Zealand

Our goal is to provide opportunities for all students to develop to their full potential by discovering and building on their strengths. Many of our students gain entrance to university along with a range of other qualifications.

With 740 students, Wakatipu High School is a safe and supportive environment. Staff know most students by name and students can develop a strong sense of individual identity. At the same time, the school is large enough to provide a comprehensive specialist curriculum for senior students and support for numerous extramural activities and sports. Wakatipu High School is a signatory to the New Zealand Ministry of Education's Code of Practice. This code establishes standards, quality controls and processes for dispute resolution for international student programmes in New Zealand schools.

Queenstown's wonderful environment sets the scene for Wakatipu High School's unique outdoor recreation programme. This allows students to develop strengths in a range of sporting and cultural activities. Queenstown is situated in the middle of New Zealand's most important ski fields and is a major holiday destination.

ESOL English

An excellent ESOL programme includes up to two hours each day, small classes, three levels and an option of International Pitmans, IELTS and TOEFL qualifications.

Pastoral Care and Home stay

We are dedicated to providing high quality pastoral care and home stay support. Our full-time programme Director supervises all aspects. The home stay families, provide essential support for our international students. For this reason we take great care in selecting home stay families and in matching each student with a suitable family. Mrs Potts inspects prospective accommodation, interviews hosts and checks references carefully. There is regular communication between home-stay parents and Mrs Potts to ensure that support is always available.

Teachers

Queenstown is the most beautiful location in New Zealand and attracts excellent, multi-talented and motivated teachers who combine as a strong staff team.
