Study Natural Therapies in New ZealandWellpark College New ZealandWellpark College offers international students a warm welcome. A tenth of our students come to our established educational institution from other countries, to gain a comprehensive, officially recognised education in natural therapies. New Zealand's wide-ranging scenic wonders and recreational opportunities are also a major attraction for international students who choose to study at Wellpark. the college Wellpark College of Natural Therapies is an NZQA-registered private training establishment. It offers tertiary education in Naturopathy, Herbal Medicine, Massage, Aromatherapy, Ayurvedic Medicine, Yoga and Medical Sciences.
The college is dedicated to
integrated medicine. In this healthcare model, doctors, nurses, allied
health professionals and natural therapists work together to determine
individual health plans that recognise the whole person (mind, body and
spirit), optimise wellness and effect the best possible recovery from
illness.
Wellparks proposal for a
national prgramme of wellness ties in with NZ
Ministry of Health priorities, most of which relate to lifestyle and
life choices. We envisage national healthcare that, unlike the present
ambulance at the bottom of the cliff system, educates individuals on
how to achieve balance in life. This will improve the health of
individuals and, ultimately, that of their families and communities. In 2004, Wellpark is moving towards research-based teaching and
staff-conducted research projects. We recognise that the Western medical
model is based on evidence-based medicine. While natural medicine has
grown through generations of wisdom from many cultures, it too must prove
its efficacy.
The future for natural therapies
is exciting. The use of natural medicines is growing annually as
individuals take responsibility for their health and wellbeing. The more
paternalistic models of medicine are being challenged. The first goal for
natural therapies students is to find out how to manage their own physical
health, mental wellbeing and spiritual awareness. They can then assist
others in this process of self-discovery. Such work has many implications
for our communities. It will bring a lifetime of rewards.

Auckland
City
Wellpark
College is located in an old, well-established inner city suburb, and is
only a five minute drive from downtown Auckland. The suburb is well known
for its colorful, alternative lifestylers, many of whom are part of a
politically active lobby group for environmental issues. The College is
located in a city that is built within the isthmus of two harbours. To the
west, the Manukau harbour flows into the Tasman Sea, whilst to the east
the Waitemata Harbour opens onto the Hauraki Gulf - offering some of the
finest sailing in the country. Auckland provides a diverse range of
environments, from the wild west coast beaches and Waitakere Ranges in the
west, to the 40 volcanic cones spread across the city, the thermal hot
springs to the north, and the countryside, less than an hours drive from
the College.
Auckland is also a great base
from which to explore neighboring destinations. The Bay of Islands is only
a 3.5 hour scenic drive north, whilst the Coromandel peninsula is only 2
hours to the southeast. Both places boast stunning scenery and wildlife,
with attractions for trampers and boaties alike. A 3.5 hour drive in a
southerly direction will lead to Lake Taupo and the ski fields of the
central plateau.
