Greensprings School has a comparatively short history. It was established in January 1985 as a Montessori School offering Nursery education to children aged 2 to 5. Since then, the school has grown to meet new challenges and this growth is set to continue as we move forward.
Greensprings School now comprises a Montessori Pre-school for students aged 1+ to 4+, the Elementary School for students aged 5+ to 10+, the Secondary School for students aged 11+ to 15+, and the Sixth Form for students aged 16+. Students in the Secondary School sit for the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) examinations in Year 11 and the Sixth Form Students sit AS and A Level examinations in Years 12 and 13.
We believe that offering a continuous and progressive education from the earliest years through to University entrance levels allows for co-operation and understanding that will help to satisfy students' educational needs.
Greensprings School is a member of the International Schools Curriculum Project (ISCP), Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA) and Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE). In addition to being recognized locally with the necessary approval and accreditation to run as an educational establishment in Nigeria by the Lagos State Ministry of Education, Greensprings School is accredited by The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), an agency involved in improving standards in schools across the world through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the USA.
Over the next few years, Greensprings School hopes to develop and nurture the current 'Culture of Excellence' which is already such a central part of school life. We intend our students to be leaders of the future who can play a central role in the national life of their nation and it is towards this end that all our efforts are focussed.
A new state of the art boarding school is planned for our second site on the Lagos-Epe Expressway and this will offer unequalled educational opportunities to secondary school students. By September 2006, Greensprings' new secondary boarding school hopes to be showing the way forward in international education in Nigeria and across West Africa.
