Niue Island:

Climate:The island has a tropical climate, with most rainfall occurring between November and April.
Language:The Niuean language or Niue language is a Polynesian language, belonging to the Malayo-Polynesian subgroup of the Austronesian languages.
Currency:The New Zealand Dollar (NZD; symbol NZ$) is legal tender (see New Zealand section) . Niue sometimes produces commemorative coins which, when available, may be obtained at the treasury.
Population:The population in 1995 was estimated at 2, 000. About half the people live in and around the capital, Alofi, on the island's west side. Others live in villages scattered along a road that circles the island.
Capital City:Alofi is the capital city of the Pacific Ocean nation of Niue. With a population of 581 (census of 2006) , Alofi has the distinction of being the smallest national capital city in terms of population.
