Brent School was founded in 1909 by the Rt Rev Charles Henry Brent, the first Bishop of the Episcopal Church in the Philippines, to provide for the educational needs of the sons of American, British, European and Asian families.
The primary school at Brent International School Baguio goal is to foster optimal development of the young child, to create a love of learning, and to help him or her master the basic skills. The secondary school curriculum reflects the international character of the school and prepares students for universities worldwide. The curriculum for the two senior grades is planned in accordance with International Baccalaureate syllabuses. ESL is offered as needed.
The Brent International School Baguio has a multinational faculty, 22 with baccalaureate, and eight with masters degree. Local teachers average six years stay; expatriates average four years. Fourteen faculty members reside in the school. Students come from 12 countries. The average length of stay is six years. Most students leave due to parents' transfer of assignment. Ninety percent of graduates go on to university.
The Brent International School Baguio year is from mid-August to mid-June. A full sports programme, outdoor education classes and an extensive community service program, are important activities. Student Council, various clubs, and the arts and drama program are features. Weekend activities are provided for boarders.
On a property of about 30 acres, premises comprising 19 buildings include 24 classrooms, four science labs, two art studios, one music room, gym, two libraries, A-V room/Little Theatre, two computer rooms, a performing arts centre, a tennis court, extensive outdoor education facilities and a working mini-farm. There are two dormitories that can accommodate 65 boarders.
Students are admitted to Brent International School Baguio on the basis of previous school records and evidence of good health. School-administered testing determines grade placement. Applications are accepted year-round.
