Climate:The climate is mostly temperate throughout the country. The climate is oceanic in the north and west and becomes gradually warmer and continental towards the south and east.
Language:Polish describes a Lechitic subgroup of West Slavic languages in Central Europe [4] and the official language of Poland. Its written standard is the Polish alphabet which corresponds to the Latin alphabet with several additions. Polish-speakers use the language in a uniform manner throughout most of Poland.
Currency:The Polish currency is called the Zloty and it is internationally abbreviated as PLN. The Zloty is made up of 100 Groszy. There are 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Zloty bills.
Population:The population of Poland was estimated at 38, 653, 912 in July 2001. In 2001 the birth rate stood at 10.2 per 1, 000 and the death rate at 9.98 per 1, 000. After a period of uninterrupted growth that began in 1946.
Capital City:Warsaw is the capital and largest city of Poland. It is located on the Vistula River roughly 260 km (162 mi) from the Baltic Sea and 300 km (186 mi) from the Carpathian Mountains.
