The school, recognized by the Romanian Ministry of Education, registered by the University of Cambridge as a 'Cambridge International Centre', is an independent, English medium, multinational, day school. It provides a British style of education for children aged three years to 18 years. The National Curriculum of England and Wales is followed, which is adapted to meet the needs of the international student body. Students in Years 10 and 11 follow the Cambridge IGCSE programme, while those in Years 12 and 13 prepare for GCE A-levels. Small-sized classes in all age groups allow carefully planned individual programmes of study where needed. All instruction is in English with extensive support for children for whom English is not their first language. The school is located in the eastern part of the city. There is subway and bus link from the centre. A privately operated door-to-door bus service is also available. Now in a new, lake-front property, set on 19 acres, the ISB campus hosts Early Years, Primary and Secondary divisions. There is a big two-floor library, outdoor sport units, three subject specific Science labs, an infirmary, separate play areas for Early Years, Primary and secondary, cafeteria, high-speed wired IT suits and campus with internet access, performing arts areas and an Auditorium. Co-curricular activities include sports teams, school choir, a multicultural fair and festival, book fair, science and math weeks, student council, etc. Extra curricular activities range from ball sports to horseback riding and dance to board games. Entry to the school is non-selective. Parental involvement is valued and there is an active Parent School Association. |
