American International School of Johannesburg

The American International School of Johannesburg was founded in 1982. It began as a small school in a residence in Rivonia. In 1985 the school moved to its present 80-acre site in Diepsloot, a rural setting.

American International School of Johannesburg is an American-style school with 50 nationalities represented within its student body. The school year follows a northern hemisphere model beginning in August and ending in June.

The International Baccalaureate programme is an option for the last two years of secondary school. An ESL program is also provided for students wishing to improve their English language skills. The American High School diploma is awarded to successful students who complete grade 12.

University entrance is virtually guaranteed to students who finish with average or above average grades, and good SAT scores. All graduates of American International School of Johannesburg go on to enter universities and colleges.

Field trips to sites of South African culture, history, ecology and industry are integrated into the curriculum, and a variety of after-school activities is offered at the American International School of Johannesburg
