In the thirty years since its establishment, the Ching Yun Institute of Technology has won national approval, reflecting the sustained efforts of its presidents and employees. Its current aim is to improve even more, becoming a university of technology.
As a modern school, it regards three areas automization, telecommunications, and Internet technology - to be central to its long-term development. It anticipates being a leader of e-generation high technology as a result of the premium it places on knowledge management and intellectual economics.   Furthermore, over the past three years it has spent one and a half billion NT dollars to renew ninety percent of its present buildings and complete its campus. Concurrently, it is looking for a second campus, so that the scale of the school can be enlarged. Dozens of assistant professors are currently being recruited to improve the quality of the school's teaching and research. Ching Yun aims to become a first-rate university of technology. Educational Goals In accordance with the 1995 curriculum standards set by the Ministry of Education, CYIT's curriculum design has become uniformly more flexible, thereby strengthening the institution's emphasis on academic and technological advancement. In addition to providing a solid foundation in basic theory, the institution's departments and divisions strive to combine experimental teaching and internship training with project-making and research integration. This allows their education to meet the changing demands of the industrial world. Proceeding from strict planning and sound organization, the educational policy fashioned by the Ching Yun Institute of Technology becomes yearly more efficient.
CYIT's dedication to the goals of national growth and educational development was recognized in 1999 when it was upgraded from junior college to institute of technology status. At present, the institution is oriented toward combining theory and practice, as well as promoting long-term curriculum improvement. Towards this end, a trans-departmental Electromechanical Integration and Automation Center: The Logistics Management Center, The Green Energy Center, Euro-Asian Research Center and Spatial Information and Disaster Reduction Research Center are founded for the purpose of facilitating integral course design. This focus allows the institution to both enhance the faculty's research capability and expand the students' knowledge of applied science and technology.
