Climate:In general, Tajikistan's climate is continental, subtropical, and semiarid, with some desert areas. The climate changes drastically according to elevation, however. The Fergana Valley and other lowlands are shielded by mountains from Arctic air masses, but temperatures in that region still drop below freezing for more than 100 days a year.
Language:Persian is a major Tajikistan language. Earlier, this language was spoken over an extensive area between India and the Middle East. Today, almost 65% of Tajikistan's total population are Tajik-Persian speakers.
Currency:Tajikistan's unofficial currency is the US Dollar (USD) . Euro (EUR) and Russian Roubles (RUB) are also accepted at most exchange points. Uzbek Sum and Kirgyz Som can be exchanged in some exchange kiosks in Dushanbe, Khujand, Penjikent and other border areas.
Population:Tajikistan population is estimated to be over 6.25 million people over a land area of 1, 43, 100 square kilometers. The Tajikistan population density is around 44 people per square kilometer. Out of the total population of Tajikistan, 28% form the inhabitants of urban areas. As per the Census of year 2003, there has been a growth of 2.1% in the Tajikistan population.
Capital City:Dushanbe is the capital and largest city of Tajikistan. Dushanbe means "Monday" in Tajik, [2] and the name reflects the fact that the city grew on the site of a village that originally was a popular Monday marketplace.
