Study English as a Foreign Language
The
College of International Education Oxford
CIE
is an expanding language school and tutorial college located in the
centre of Oxford. Founded in 1995, we are one of the few colleges who
offer students the opportunity to combine academic study and English as
a Foreign Language. Our small classes mean that students benefit from
individual attention and our dedicated and enthusiastic teachers ensure
that all students achieve the best possible results.

We
understand that the most important person is the student. Co-ordination
of the programmes is flexible in order to encourage the interests and
needs of the student, whose progress is closely monitored to ensure his/
her success. A friendly atmosphere enables the student to talk with any
member of staff about their academic progress and free internet access
in the common room means experiences can be shared with friends and
family around the world.
STUDYING IN OXFORD
CIE
enjoys a prime central location in the historic and beautiful city of
Oxford, one of the oldest and most famous university cities in the
world. The city offers beautiful architecture and gardens as well as
museums, theatres, cinemas, restaurants, parks, shops and a wide range
of sport facilities. It is only one hour by train or coach from the
centre of London. Heathrow Airport is also only an hour away, and
Gatwick and Stansted less than two. Buses are regular and inexpensive.
LIVING
IN OXFORD
Most
of our students choose to stay with our carefully selected host
families, where they can study in a friendly and secure environment and
practise their English in a less formal setting than the classroom. The
family normally provides breakfast and dinner during the week, with
lunch as well over the weekend. For students wanting greater
independence, we can arrange guest houses and hotels. Premier host
family accommodation is also an option, and help and advice will be
given to students wishing to rent a flat.
SOCIAL
AND CULTURAL PROGRAMME
CIE
co-ordinates a varied activities programme to enable you to get the most
out of your stay in Oxford and the United Kingdom. Tours of Oxford's
'dreaming spires', punting expeditions on the Cherwell River,
football games in the University Parks, international evenings with
barbeques and films, and visits to the theatres and Oxford's
impressive museums all make up part of the activities programme.
CIE
also organises trips to places of interest such as London, Stratford
upon Avon, Warwick Castle, Bath, Stonehenge, etc. On these trips you can
explore the old Roman baths, wonder at the civilization that dragged
huge stones 400 miles, or enjoy London's sights and shops. These tours
run most Saturdays and Sundays during July and August.
