Josiah Mason College
Josiah Mason College was set up in 1983 as a specialist sixth form college, there are now only 3 such colleges in Birmingham. Sixth form education is still one of the biggest areas which we specialise in, but we now also offer courses at university level, courses for businesses, professional qualifications and courses for adults returning to education. We are also a member of the Birmingham Community College.
Sixth form colleges concentrate on educating students between 16 and 19 years old. This means that our staff and our facilities are geared up to the needs of this age group. We see your time with us as a partnership: you want to be successful, we want you to succeed.
International Students
Welcome to Josiah Mason College! Here are just a few reasons why you should come to JMC;
We can offer a wide range of courses from A levels and GCSEs to HNDs (similar to the American
'Associate Degree') and pre-degree courses. We have also developed links with local universities which will enable you to progress onto degree level courses.
We are just four miles from the centre of Birmingham, the United Kingdom's thriving 'second city'. Birmingham is in the heart of England with excellent transport links to London, Manchester and Scotland. What's more, we are very close to Birmingham International Airport and several large carriers (KLM, Lufthansa, Air France etc.) have routes throughout the world connecting via mainland Europe.
As a government funded institution, we are inspected on a regular basis. This ensures that we continue to offer courses which are of excellent quality, with a high standard of teaching and good success rates.

Fees
Fees for international students will vary depending on the type and level of course. Please contact us for further information.
We do ask that you send a non-refundable deposit of £300.00 with your completed
application form - this is standard for many United Kingdom institutions and the deposit will be credited against the final payment of your course fees. Course fees should be paid in full at enrolment but we can arrange an instalment plan if this is more appropriate. This must, however, be agreed when you accept your offer of a place.
Entry Requirements
Each course has its own entry requirements and each application is considered on its own merits. All qualifications you notify us about will be considered and matched against their United Kingdom equivalent. Therefore, it is important that you list and attach photocopies of all your educational certificates when filling in an application form, to enable us to have a broader picture of your studies. This will also save time in processing your application. Please do not send in original certificates or other documents, as we cannot accept responsibility for the failure of any postal service to return these to you. Where it is necessary to see such documentation, we will inform you by letter and request that you bring these with you to interview or when you enrol.
Enrolment
Please help us to help you at enrolment. Please bring copies of any correspondence you may have had from the College, original certificates and your passport and visa documentation. You should also be prepared to pay at least half of your tuition fees at enrolment.

Life at JMCIt is the job of the International Office staff to ensure that your stay in the United Kingdom is as pleasant as possible and your experience at JMC a rewarding one. These are some of the services that we will provide for you during your time here:
Accommodation
We will be happy to arrange accommodation for you for the duration of your studies with us and we have a dedicated member of staff who will help you with this. We will post this form to you together with course information, application form and brochures. You will need to return to complete and return the Accommodation request form to us as soon as possible so that we can start making arrangements. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis and we require a minimum of 7 days notice in order to be able to arrange this accommodation.
We work with friendly families, who are willing to offer just about everything you may need. They will provide you with a private room and daily meals and will treat you as a member of their family.
The current fee for homestay accommodation is £90.00 per week which you will pay direct to your homestay family. It is also possible to arrange homestay accommodation with a self-catering option. The weekly rent varies between £60.00-70.00 per week, but remember that in this case you will need to budget for the food you need.
Once we receive the confirmation of your interest to be placed with a host family, we will try to match your needs with those of a host family. We will notify the host family about the details of your arrival and on most occasions they will come to pick you up from the airport. If this is impossible on your first arrival to the United Kingdom, the college will arrange the airport pick up and transport to the host family.
