English Language (ELICOS) Courses
Our language courses are designed to prepare
students linguistically and academically for participation in Australian
high school and university programmes. The teachers, trained and
experienced in teaching English as a second and foreign language, focus on
the skills necessary for overseas students to achieve their academic goals.

English Language Briding Course for Secondary School
The St. Paul's International College English Language Bridging Course for
Secondary School is a 30 hour-per-week English language programme that
provides intensive instruction and practice in the skills of:

Speaking

Reading
-
Writing
-
Listening.
English Language Bridging Course for Secondary School also includes
specific language instruction in academic subjects such as Computing,
Commerce, Mathematics, Science and Religion Studies.
Classes are highly
structured and class numbers are small, enabling each student to achieve
their personal best. The English Language Bridging Course for
Secondary School classes at the College are dynamic, motivating
environments. Students are given ample opportunity to learn and use
English relevant to future study pathways, cultural integration and their
successful functioning in the College environment.
A number of
excursions are provided to introduce students to Australian culture and our
unique environment. Students enjoy day trips to Sydney, Canberra, the
south coast and surrounding areas.
On successful completion of the St. Paul's International College English
Language Bridging Course for Secondary School, students progress directly to
one of the following:

English for Academic Purposes
English
for Academic Purposes*(EAP) is a 30 hour-per-week programme that provides
intensive English language instruction in all subject areas:

Academic English

Mathematics
-
Computing Studies

Religion Studies

Commerce Stream (Accounting, Economics & Legal Studies)
or

Science Stream (Physics and Chemistry)
*To be eligible for entry into the EAP course, students must have
completed at least 5 years of high school and achieved an IELTS
(Academic) score of 5.0 or equivalent.
The EAP learning program equips students with the language skills
necessary for academic success. There are two streams in EAP:
Science and Commerce. All subjects within EAP introduce students to the
skills and language necessary to undertake that subject at a deeper
level in UNSW Foundation Year course. Class numbers are restricted
ensuring that each student can learn at their particular level.
The EAP class environment offers a studious, cooperative atmosphere in
which students can receive individual assistance.
On
successful completion of the St. Paul's International College English
for Academic Purposes course, students progress directly to the
University of New South Wales Foundation Year (UFY).
Student Services
St. Paul's offers a range of services designed to help students settle into
a new country and learning environment as quickly and as smoothly as
possible. The College staff are always available to help students with any
concerns that they may have. The services provided for students include:
